Vancouver comes back home tonight to play the Cleveland Barons after a lengthy 8 game road trip wich saw them take 5 of 8 including an 8-1 drubbing over Seattle and a couple of Shutouts against Toronto and Boston. Much of their sucess comes from the stellar play of their young netminder Marc-Andre Fleury. In his last 5 games he has a 5-0 record with a 1.96 GAA and a .931 SP along with 2 Shutouts. His record for the season now stands at 9-2.
"He's been playing very well " says Canucks Captain Chris Drury. "He's kept us in the close games and allowed us to win. We have to give him more support up front".
At the begining of the season when it was announced that Fleury would be the Canucks netminder, there was alot of skeptisisim on how well the Canucks would do. "We knew we would have a bright future with Fleury in net for us but we never knew that it would come this early" says GM Kevin Bamford. "In the dressing room the guys are all excited with their recent play and have hopes of making it to the big dance".
While it's still very early into the season, Marc Andre Fleury shows no signs of slowing down and that is a very good thing for the Vancouver Canucks and their fans. Only time will tell if they have what it takes to win the cup.
